40 Alumni on Broadway: AMDA Among Top Theatre Schools

Shattering all previous records, AMDA alumni took Broadway by storm in the past year with 40 graduates performing in 37 unique shows, landing AMDA once more among the nation’s top theatre schools! Whether it’s starring in hip-hop sensation Hamilton or making their Broadway debut, AMDA’s alumni are breaking industry barriers and taking their talents to new, ever-expanding heights.
Topping the list with starring roles include alums Christopher Jackson (Hamilton, George Washington); Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Fully Committed, Sam); Brennyn Lark (Les Misérables, Éponine); Nina Arianda (Fool for Love, May); and Kyle Scatliffe (Color Purple, Harpo).
Incredibly, seven musicals featured multiple AMDA alums in their casts, including Hamilton, The Color Purple, Kinky Boots, Les Misérables and School of Rock. Truly impressive, however, was AMDA’s dominating presence in The King and I and Motown the Musical, both of which featured four alumni on each stage!
While many wait their entire lives to land one Broadway show, several alumni starred on multiple stages in the same year: Hats off to Albert Guerzon (Mamma Mia, Honeymoon in Vegas), Colin Cunliffe (Pippin, Finding Neverland), Kyle Scatliffe (Les Misérables, The Color Purple), and Mamie Parris (School of Rock, On the Twentieth Century)!
