Michael Simmons is a professional editor and publisher of undergraduate student scholarship on international popular culture. With publications spanning five years and two anthologies, Michael fights to provide undergraduate students with a stage to express their views on the history and politics of the popular representations that are closest to them. His teaching centers on film and media studies with a Lacanian psychoanalytic framework, and he draws on queer pedagogy to continually reinvent the classroom according to students' widely disparate needs and desires. Michael brings to AMDA's students a passion for the autoethnographic and creative nonfiction turn in first-year composition courses.
