Thank You to Alumna Mamie Parris for Speaking at AMDA NY's Graduation Ceremony

AMDA would like to thank alumna Mamie Parris for speaking at AMDA NY's graduation ceremony.

We are pleased to announce alumna Mamie Parris will be speaking at AMDA NY's graduation ceremony Saturday, February 3rd. 

AMDA alumna Mamie Parris, a native Texan, has performed everywhere from Summer Stock to Shakespeare Festivals, cruise ships to Broadway, Off-Broadway, and everywhere in between. Mamie toured the US and Canada with country music legend Kenny Rogers, traveled to China as part of the Macau International Music Festival, and crossed the stage with camels in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. "The New York Times" has described her as “winsome,” and her singing “immaculate.”

Most recently, Mamie starred as Grizabella in the Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical CATS. Mamie’s previous Broadway credits include School of Rock (Patty, cast album), Roundabout Theatre’s acclaimed revival of On The Twentieth Century (Agnes, cast album), the Tony-Nominated revival of Ragtime, '110 In the Shade' (cast album), and five-time Tony-winner The Drowsy Chaperone. National Tour credits include Wicked (Elphaba), 9 To 5: The Musical (Judy Bernly, the role created by Jane Fonda in the iconic film), and Legally Blonde - the Musical. 

Mamie’s Off-Broadway credits include Pump Boys and Dinettes (Prudie) presented by Encores! Off-Center series, and The Transport Group’s See Rock City & Other Destinations (Dodi, cast album). Her many other notable theatre credits include roles at The Goodspeed Opera House, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and The Muny. Mamie’s film and television credits include the independent comedy "A Stand Up Guy", and the NBC dramas “The Blacklist” and “State of Affairs.” 

Mamie resides in New York City with her husband, Johnathan, and pup, Cookie.
