Explore your Passion. Experience Life.

The AMDA GAP Program brings together young adults from around the world for a culturally-immersive, performing arts educational experience in the heart of New York City. Designed for young adults ages of 18-25, AMDA’s GAP program is steeped in the study of acting, movement, improvisation and performance with options for specialization in musical theater and vocal technique. Under the guidance of AMDA’s world-class faculty, students not only learn the art and craft of performing, but also gain valuable insights into today’s entertainment industry. Through a blend of individual and ensemble-based work, GAP students embark on a transformative journey of self-development through immersion in the performing arts while exploring one of the world's most vibrant and culturally diverse cities.

In addition to receiving top-notch training in the performing arts from AMDA’s esteemed faculty, the GAP program takes students on a captivating exploration of the vibrant tapestry of New York City. Through weekly excursions, students have the opportunity to witness the magic of Broadway shows, visit iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, explore the Museum of Broadway, marvel at the Statue of Liberty, and immerse themselves in the cultural richness of the MET museum. These excursions not only enhance students' understanding of the arts, but also provide a holistic and unforgettable adventure, supporting the development of friendships that will last a lifetime.

About the Gap Programs

In order to meet the various needs of our international community, AMDA’s GAP Performing Arts program is offered in both 8-week and 3-week program sessions. The 8-week program is offered each Fall, with the 3-week program offered in Winter, Spring, and Summer. Each program features essential core classes dedicated to the development of fundamental performing arts techniques with choice courses offered in areas of interest and specialization. All participating GAP students will also be reviewed and considered for admission and scholarship to AMDA College of the Performing Arts.

    • The 8-week Fall program provides an extended immersive experience, featuring a variety of performing arts classes from Monday to Friday, coupled with cultural activities on Saturdays. This program includes a film shoot of scene work and culminates in a final performance on-stage in New York City. Classes may include acting, movement, writing, stage combat, monologue preparation, and self-tape/on-camera audition techniques, with optional specialization in singing technique and musical theater. In addition to rich study in performance techniques, this program will expose students to the richness of NYC through cultural experiences. For those ready for the next step, students are offered the opportunity to audition and apply for AMDA College of the Performing Arts.

    • The 3-week Winter, Spring, and Summer programs provide an intensive yet comprehensive experience, with classes from Monday to Friday and cultural activities on Saturdays. This program includes a film shoot of scene work and culminates in a final performance on-stage in New York City. Featuring classes in acting, movement, writing, stage combat, monologue preparation, and self-tape/on-camera audition techniques, with optional specialization in singing technique and musical theater. Despite the condensed time frame, this program's goals align with those of the 8-week option, emphasizing exposure to NYC, discipline growth, performance experience, and the opportunity to audition for AMDA College of the Performing Arts.
