New York Community
January 8, 2020
Out of an abundance of caution, and in order to ensure that we begin the second half of our in-person semester safely and completely COVID-free in our classrooms, we will be postponing our return to in-person classes by a few days to Wednesday, January 13.
While we are all very much looking forward to being together again in person in the classroom, it is of paramount importance that when we do return, we do so in a way that ensures that all of our community members have abided by our Return to Campus safety protocols and that all people entering our buildings are COVID-free.
Given the challenges that some of our community members have experienced in traveling back to campus during this time and the need to follow the New York State travel protocols, it is prudent for us to take a few more days to ensure that we are all back safely on campus and that we are all healthy when we return to in-person instruction. Students who are still not in the NY State area should still arrive back to campus on their original travel dates to be tested and cleared to come to campus by Wednesday, January 13.
While we are confident that we can resume in-person classes safely and for the remainder of the semester, we do understand that there are some students who are interested in staying remote and not returning to in-person instruction for the remainder of the Fall 2020 semester. If you have questions about this option, please email NYRegistrar@amda.edu by Monday, January 11th by 9:00 am ET.
Two Town Hall Open Zoom Meetings will be hosted for our community on Monday, January 11 to give the AMDA community an opportunity to come together and discuss any questions. This will also give us a chance to review AMDA’s safety protocols as we prepare to resume in-person instruction on Wednesday. Links to these meetings were sent by email to the AMDA community.
If you have any questions at all, please email NYERT@amda.edu and a staff member will respond to you.
RETURN TO CAMPUS PLAYBOOK
AMDA has developed a plan for returning to each campus in a way that enables us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We invite all of our community members – students, parents, faculty, and staff – to read the AMDA Return to Campus Playbook for your campus. The AMDA Return to Campus Playbook covers all areas of health and safety including the use of masks, other personal protective gear, residential life, the daily self-health checks that will be required of all students, faculty, and staff, and many other important pieces of information that will be necessary for you to know prior to arriving on campus.
