IMPORTANT Information for Returning to Campus in January 2022
Out of an abundance of caution given the increase in COVID cases in LA and to ensure that everyone remains as safe as possible returning to campus, we are adjusting some of your return to campus dates. As our Health Team looks at the possible trajectory of cases, it seems that the most prudent plan is to allow some extra time for this recent rise in cases to subside. While it is difficult to predict, we feel confident that the following phased return to campus will enable us to finish the semester in person:
If you are a Pending Graduate (AOS 4’s & BFA 8’s) and if you are a student (ANY semester level) who is involved in ACTIVE productions/showcases, film projects/shoots, and Artists Lab Student Vision Projects, you will return in-person as originally scheduled: Jan. 3
-
All AOS 4’s, BFA 8’s and any student involved in only the following projects will return as originally scheduled in-person:
- Acting and DT Showcases
- BFA Play: Permanent Collection
- Student Vision Projects
- DT Production 1: Awakening
- DT Production 2: Lavirra
- Reels/shoots (i.e.: Reel Actor, MT Media, DT Reels)
- From Jan. 3 - 15, all other course work will be conducted remotely.
- Students in this category should move back to campus the weekend of Jan. 1 - 2.
- Students will have access to their assigned classrooms as needed.
-
All other students (NOT in the showcase/productions/shoots listed above):
- You will resume classes REMOTELY from your home environments Jan. 3 - 14.
- In-person classes for everyone resume on campus Jan. 18.
- Students in this category should move back to campus the weekend of Jan. 15 – 17.
-
Additional Important Information to Remember:
- Everyone will be required to have a COVID test upon their return to campus
- We strongly encourage (and will soon require) everyone to receive their booster dose of the vaccine over winter break to ensure your safety.
- When you receive your booster, please upload your information HERE
- All in-person activity will resume under the strictest safety protocols (mask-wearing, distancing, Covid-testing, audience limits/restrictions, etc.)
- We will re-evaluate all safety protocols after Jan. 24
If you have ANY questions AT ALL please email LAERT@amda.edu.

We are excited to welcome students, faculty, and staff back to campus for in-person hybrid instruction for the Summer 2021 semester. As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the health and safety of our community, AMDA has implemented a range of COVID-19 health and safety protocols and procedures as outlined in the AMDA Return to Campus Playbook linked below. All of the policies that we are putting into place for our Summer Semester are in accordance with the guidance from the California State and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Should you have any questions regarding the Los Angeles Campus reopening or Summer 2021 semester, please LAERT@amda.edu and a member of AMDA LA’s Emergency Response Team (LAERT), will respond in a timely manner.
RETURN TO CAMPUS PLAYBOOK
AMDA has developed a plan for returning to each campus in a way that enables us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We invite all of our community members – students, parents, faculty, and staff – to read the AMDA Return to Campus Playbook for your campus. The AMDA Return to Campus Playbook covers all areas of health and safety including the use of masks, other personal protective gear, residential life, the daily self-health checks that will be required of all students, faculty, and staff, and many other important pieces of information that will be necessary for you to know prior to arriving on campus.
