'Fabulous! The Queen of New Musical Comedies'
Part Some Like It Hot, part Anything Goes, and part Dames at Sea, Fabuous! draws inspiration from adored, familiar works, creating a guilty pleasure critics say is well worth seeing. Matthew Wexler, of Broadway Blog, writes: “For a fun homage to the old days of musical comedy, Fabulous! offers a refreshing evening of light-hearted fun, plenty of laughs and more sequins than a Cher concert.” The show also boasts two AMDA alumni: Josh Kenny and Cameron Lucas.
In order to entertain on a cruise ship, two drag queens, Laura Lee and Jane Mann (Josh Kenney), pretend to be real women. Along their journey, they run into a lovable gangster and his pushy blond sister, a movie star, a lesbian cruise director, a crew of four tapping boys, and the bachelor captain, Sir Alfred Dooalot (Cameron Lucas).
Fabuous! The Queen of New, Musical Comedies continues through January 5, 2015, at the intimate New Write Act Repertory Theater on 43rd Street in New York City.
